XLaunch: Reborn2 Comments

Erica Sadun | 9:12 pm | February 6, 2008 | Update, Applications, Software, iPod touch, iPhone

Did you miss XLaunch? I did. I kind of like the fact that it lets me find apps alphabetically. My home screens (plural) are getting to be a mess.

No, there’s no squeezing onto button bars or reordering (a surefire way to keep SpringBoard from launching properly, as I found to my testing dismay) but I kept in the double-tap trick and added a new one: badging. You can badge any app and it will last until you reboot or restart SpringBoard.

Version 0.21 is in the XLaunch folder, which has been moved back from the Deprecated folder. And, oh yeah, it should run properly on both the iPhone and iPod

VoiceNotes: crashes, sound issues9 Comments

This hasn’t happened to me but I’m hearing that doing a settings reset seems to help many users. Navigate to Settings > General > Reset and choose Reset All Settings. Let me know if this works for you. I’m assured that this will not affect your iPhone’s data or applications but be aware it will remove your “favorites” and changes your autolock and brightness settings. Update: You may need to do this twice.

On request from go2, XLaunch 0.20 now offers double-tap home key customization. Assign any app to the home-double-tap.

I put this together just for a lark. Is it at all useful? To Do is in the Test folder.

Moo: An entirely useless application3 Comments

Erica Sadun | 11:16 am | December 24, 2007 | Applications, Software, iPhone

So yesterday, I got talking with some guys over at #iphone-uikit on irc.osx86.hu and someone mentioned that old novelty you could buy at toys stores. It’s a kind of short cylinder with holes on the top and when you turn it over it moos. Thus inspired, I decided to write an iPhone version of that novelty toy and here it is, in the Pumpkin Utilities folder.

Voice Notes 0.23 is a stable release. It provides better renaming, Play/Stop capabilities, and a general export to SendFile. For this release, all files are copied into the Media/Documents folder for SendFile compatibility but I’m looking into making the various send applications work more seamlessly with each other.

I’m close to releasing this version. Please test for stability and especially for text editing (renaming), etc, and leave feedback in the comments. VNotes is here. For iPhone only–unless you have a MicroMemo or other iPod recording accessory.

This version should fix/add:

New: Make it Mine (MIM)91 Comments

Erica Sadun | 10:34 am | November 25, 2007 | Hacks, Applications, Software, iPhone

So I was messing around with a bunch of undocumented SpringBoard preferences, when I bumped into one that lets you set a fake carrier. It’s called (surprise, surprise) SBFakeCarrier. Heh.

Make it Mine (available on Cydia from the ModMyI repo) allows you to set any short string (actually nearly any short string, it kind of balks with some punctuation) as your “carrier”. Launch, type some text, tap Set. The program quits, restarting SpringBoard, and when you unlock, your new “carrier” awaits.”Before taking your iPhone into the genius bar, make sure to use “reset”, which removes the preference from SpringBoard and resets you back to your defaults.

Updated: Red Light0 Comments

A new version of Red Light replaces the bright status bar with a dark one. Better optics for better night vision.
