Bruce and Mac screenshots: Please test
Erica Sadun | 2:46 pm | January 16, 2011 | BRUCE, AirPlay
Bruce 0.4 has screen shot functionality. Why? This is about my updating Whiteboard for iPad to work with Apple TV. Before I start putting the code into the Whiteboard base, I want to make sure it operates properly. The slider is from 1 seconds (left) to 10 seconds(right). I’m thinking of about 4 seconds so I don’t overwhelm the connection with too much data. Please let me know what time interval works best for you.

i have success with the 1 second screenshots sending from my 13″ macbook (if screen size matters to you). it takes about six seconds for a change on my screen to be reflected on the tv, however.

Erica,
thisis awesome. I am running the little weather window and I did not know that your app sent over in realtime what I am doing on my desktop.
I just downloaded images from my camera using nikon transfer, loaded nikon viewnx2 and I went to get some coffee and low and behold my desktop was on my tv and it was updating what I was doing!
Mac os 10.6.6 latest updates, mac mini, 4 gigs ram.
pretty cool!
now if I can just figure out how t oget hulu working with airplay…
be well

Erica,
Just tested these 3 apps:
Nikon ViewNX v2
Apple Aperture v3
Lightroom v3
I played slideshows in all 3 apps.
1st: all images that came across where raw files interpreted be each apps internal raw codec.
2nd: that being said all images were stunning!
3rd: I used dissolves and motion in ViewNX2 and Aperture 3. Some hiccups with motion. It is obvious I do not understand what is going on so I turned off dissolves, fades and motion.
4th: The clarity on the TV of my desktop was amazing.
5th: Need to have away to know what the refresh rate is, ( this is just wishful thinking here) so I can time my slideshows to the refresh rate of Bruce.
So with this small test, the weather window works well, and I can now play raw images and tweaked ones at that outside of itunes.
Good job! Erica, well done!
be well
Laurence

Bruce is very nice already but it could be expanded to a program with much more possibilities. What I am thinking about is an application similar to Flipboard on the iPad. Probably that will be difficult to make.
Than you could make your own “TV programs” based on Twitterlists. That is already possible in avery basic way in Bruce by using RSS. It would be nice if you could include images and more like in Flipboard.

Hi Erica, great App….
it’s possible to insert also the possibility to reduce the lag in less of 1 sec…I known that this can increase data “costs” but It will be good can share an internet navigation with other people over tv and ATV2…
what do you think about??
anyway I really appreciate your job!!!

I think it would be best to keep it all one application.
Does anyone have any problems with play DivX video on airplay?

I’m having the same issue as Nickepe. I’m on Lion and most of the videos I want to stream give me the user/bin/mediastreamsegmenter error.
Any ideas?
Email is my user @ gmail.com
Thanks!

Here’s the solution: http://www.reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/jque5/can_someone_send_me_a_copy_of/
The Air Video Server method works perfectly.

I’m running Bruce on an iMac with 1680×10650 res. The screen is letterboxed on the sides on the AppleTV. Is there a setting to stretch to fill, or a way to pick a more 16:9ish size for my desktop?

Is there any preference file or option that can be set to specify a password? We don’t wish to allow anyone access to our AirPlay enabled device. I tried giving Bruce access to the keychain password for our device, but no luck.
