APIkit goes Beta

Erica Sadun | 2:01 pm | December 10, 2009 | Test Requests

As I posted on Twitter, APIkit is this because of this. In other words, it’s a developer response to Apple’s automated API scanning system, offering a proactive heads-up about method names and function names that might trigger a problem over in the App Store system.

Hi Erica,

I would love to test this especially as I’m using Joe Hewitt’s Three20 project and we know this has some issues.

Any chance I can be included in the beta test.

My email address can all be found here :

Hello Erica,
I would like to join the APIKit beta test program.

One question, you have mentioned in http://ericasadun.com/AppDEVkit/APIkit%20README.pdf that APIKit is based upon nm, but if i try nm over my app it does not show any (extend) private class methods. So what do you think, apple guys do to find that? For e.g. something like below

@interface MPMoviePlayerController (extend)
-(void)setOrientation:(int)orientation animated:(BOOL)value;
@end

Comment by skela | March 29, 2010 | 5:06 am

Thankfully they seem to have moved the automated rejection to the front of the process, but I got rejected for including (not using, just having included) the CoverFlowView

Dear Erica,

I’m in a real bind with an app that’s being rejected automatically by Apple for use of private APIs without even telling me which private APIs they are. (I get only the nebulous “SPI Symbols,” which are not documented anywhere. I don’t even know what they are).

If you’re still accepting new users for your beta of APIKit, I could surely use the help. Thank you so much for creating such a useful tool!

You can email me at harry dot schmidt at gmail dot com. Thanks again.
