Donations and Questions
Erica Sadun | 9:50 pm | October 2, 2008 | Admin
I’m always happy to help answer questions when and if I have time and knowledge. It makes me extremely uncomfortable when someone donates to the site and then puts a request for technical support on the tails of that donation. Seriously, please don’t do that. Thank you.

Speaking of questions…
I have a copy of VoiceNotes on 1.1.4. I wanted to pull a bunch of notes I recorded while I was on the Transsiberian last month, but I can’t find them (even after searching your site)
Where are they stored on the phone?
Appreciatively,
David

Hi Erica,
I have a 1.1.1 iphone with jailbreak and installer icon. I’m interested in your VoiceNotes application but I’m unable to install it.
Could you please post a step by step guide for dummies?
ciao!
guido

I don’t own any non-2.0 iPhones any more. Basically all that is involved in pre-2.0 installation is ftping over a compatible app version, making it executable and restarting springboard. Google around to find out which version to look for, all the old software is in the Deprecated folder

Erica, Looking forward to your posts on Ars Technica!
My question(s) are complicated, but the answer is simple . . .
• I was a fairly good Applesoft BASIC programmer.
• I haven’t programmed since except for Applescript.
• I have a really neat iPhone/iTouch App idea.
Q: Do I learn XCode and Objective C?
Q. If so, What is the best-written book for the ABSOLUTE beginner?
Q. If not, How do I find an iPhone whiz to share the profits with?
Thanks,
Dan

Posted a few messages for you on Twitter but I guess you didn’t get them because you are not following me. How do I get on your follow list?
Very excited about the new book BTW, bought it this morning.
Thanks,
Regina

My workplace has banned iPhones accessing our Exchange servers using Activesync. Winmobile phones continue to access it. This is done through filtering the responses given through IIS at the time of access.
How difficult would it be to spoof the name given during an Activesync handshake to pretend the iPhone is a WinMobile phone?

Dan: Read my How to Get Started Programming on the iPHone post over at TUAW. That will answer your questions mostly

Thanks, Erica!
I’ve been jumping all over the place and it’s either

Hi Erica,
The VNotes app feature is very unique, and I very like it. Now I updated to 2.1 and could not find any where to download or to buy, even in Apple Store. Do you have any roadmap or to check in Apple Store anytime soon?
Looking forward to use it again. Thanks,

Hi Erica,
Interested in using the sample webserver code you have in your book, but I want to be able to POST to my app.
Any pointers on where I should start looking for POST implementations? I tried google but it’s a morass of unrelated junk, mostly.
I’m happy to take a whack at coding it, and will share the results when done, but I don’t really know where to start.
Thanks! Your book rocks btw.

Hello Erica,
I work for a k-12 school district in Oregon and was looking for someone skilled to help us build some curriculum software for the iPod touch 2G. Would you be interested in a project like that? It would be for elementary school kids and be centrally manageable by teachers.
Thanks!

How do I install Erica Utilities on my iPhone 3GS 3.1.2? I’ve tried searching in Cydia for it but I can’t find it…
