Test Request: App Flow v2
Erica Sadun | 12:29 pm | July 31, 2008 | 2.0, Test Requests, Update, Applications, Software
An updated of AppFlow is available now in theĀ Applications folder. If I did this correctly, the executable already is signed and you should be able to drop it into /Applications on your iPhone, respring and go on your way. Let me know how it works.

Loads and runs fine for me. Landscape cover-flow style viewing is a little choppy — animation is not as smooth as the music player’s coverflow. Launching apps from within AppFlow worked well. Double-clicking in cover-flow style also launched them fine. I didn’t try changing the double-click-home action, as I don’t know how I would change it back.
Hope that helps
Oh, I’m on an iPod Touch 16GB with 2.0 firmware, broke with xPwn.
Comment by irich25 | July 31, 2008 | 3:15 pm
it loads and crashes back to springboard =/ maybe i have too many apps?
Comment by heltoupee | July 31, 2008 | 9:20 pm
I shoul add that I had to set the permissions on the executable in the directory correctly (chmod a+x AppFlow). It was crashing before that, presumably because the program wasn’t executable.
Comment by irich25 | July 31, 2008 | 11:42 pm
still crashing.. =/ it was working before but all of a sudden it has stop working.

Works like a charm on my first gen iPhone. Setting double tap works as well, App Flow of course being my double tap app. Keep up the great work, it is greatly appreciated.

I installed AppFlow 2.0 via Cydia…. I have a concern. I can set an application as the double tap ONLY if it’s on my springboard. If say, I use Poof! to hide the icon, it wont double tap launch anything that’s hidden. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?
Comment by Erica Sadun | August 3, 2008 | 9:33 am
Doubletap relies on Springboard to handle the launching. If Poof prevents this from happening (by adding the HIDDEN tag to the app Info.plist), there’s nothing I can do other than to suggest you unhide the app you want to be doubletap-launched.

I don’t know where else I would post this, but this seems fine here…
I know BigBoss is working on porting over his categories app, but it would be wonderful if there was a way to make sub folders within AppFlow too. Just a suggestion…

Ok so i have appflow installed, it was working fine, until i donwloaded an app through itunes, now it goes to spash screen then crashes. Kinda anoying because i use this app as my launcher. and poof everything im not using
Comment by Erica Sadun | August 5, 2008 | 7:55 am
Sounds like downloading the app messed up your application map. This isn’t an AppFlow problem but rather an iPhone OS/Jailbreak problem.
Comment by ElanVital | August 5, 2008 | 7:57 am
Would also be wonderful to find a way to launch with a double tap that doesn’t rely on the Sringboard. I’m sure it’s probably not pheasable, I’m just a minimalist when it comes to icon clutter. Haha.
Thanks for your reply though. But you’re certainly right. I used Settings to make DoubleTap Phone Favorites and hid Phone.app and got the same result I did with AppFlow.
Comment by coadyj | August 5, 2008 | 9:34 am
@Erica, so do you think i should just restore and go again, Shows a lot of dedication that im willing to restore to get the funtionality of you app back

I installed the new test version by dragging onto my iPhone via CyberDuck and a Bonjour connection to the phone. At first, every time I ran it, it woud show the spalsh screen then return to springboard. Then I checked w/ CyberDuck and discovered that whie that AppFlow.app folder was set to permissions 755, everything in it was set to 644. I set them all to 755 and now the app launches fine without crashing, as hoped for.
The new version seems to be working fine, no further problems with it.
Comment by heyjude | August 20, 2008 | 9:58 am
Since installing apps from the AppStore after modifying “MobileInstallation.framework” this app.
continues to crash even after setting all permissions to 755. This is by far my favorite AppLauncher and hope they update it soon to resolve this issue.

Is it possible to get AppFlow on my 2.0 3G without jailbreaking it? I don’t intend on jailbreaking, but I really want to have your app on my phone.
Comment by metaclam | August 29, 2008 | 9:54 pm
first — i’ll answer toren: No.
Second, my question… I installed version 2.3 through Cydia and I too am having crashing problems. I assume permissions should be taken care of by Cydia. I noticed elsewhere that there may be an issue with having an empty documents folder in /User/Applications/ — as I do because it was recommended as part of mobileinstall patching.
Hope there’s a work around…
Comment by kupietz | February 16, 2009 | 3:39 pm
Has this project bene abandoned? It seems to have stopped working entirely with new versions of the firmware (and no, I don’t have Cycorder instlled or a Documents folder in /var/mobile/Applications) and there has been no update or news in 5 months.
FWIW, here’s my final crash report from AppFlow… as it doesn’t work anymore, I’m sadly - and with great regrets for what could have been - removing it from my phone.
