Erica Utilities for the 2.0 iPhone and iPod touch
Erica Sadun | 7:00 pm | April 14, 2008 | Test Requests, 2.0, Update, Utilities, iPod touch, Software, iPhone
Here they are, ready to be downloaded as individual utilities. I compiled these within the last few weeks based on reverse-engineering but I haven’t had the ability to test them out until today. Some work well (deviceinfo, badge, ip-print, plutil, restart). Others need some TLC (itmsSearch, mailFile).
These utilities are pretty much useless unless you have an ipwned developer 2.0 release. I had to do a lot of updates, particularly on appLoad, which uses a new way of loading applications.
So, yay to the dev team and if you have any specific requests, let me know. So far I have not been able to make anything run that uses windowing. If you have any tips or hints about getting around this do let me know.

I had a question on the screen capture utilities (snap,snap2album et al). I searched and didn’t find any discussion…I probably just missed it. Is there a way to capture the entire screen i.e a paused movie behind the application icons et al? I need to capture screen images that may have a player running… and I don’t see a way or a tool that will do it. Is it possible? Thanks for the useful tools!

Hi Erica, I’m trying to run the 2.0-compliant Make It Mine on my shiny new i3g, but it won’t start. Running from a terminal (after having ldid -S’ed it) it complains about a missing LayerKit.framework.
I have seen in Cydia’s 2.0 porting instructions that this framework whas been moved to CoreAnimation, is that where the problem comes from ? Do you plan on updating these awesome apps of yours anytime soon ?

Should have mentioned, too, that the same problem arises with your 2.0-compliant plutil, which does now use windowing (as you seem to say in your post that windowing causes problems).

2.0 compliant was many betas back. I’m waiting for the compiler now for new 2.0 command-line utilities.

Hello Erica,
I don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but I can’t see how to contact you.
I have installed your program ToDo. I was wondering if it was possible, and easy, to make the todo app show the number in the menu, of things on the todo list, like the SMS or recent calls does. say with a 5 10 or 25 showing when you look at it. And could it be made to mark as done, as well as delete the note.
So far you have the best program around, and I felt that this would make it perfect.
Sorry if this was the wrong place to ask.

It would be really easy to add the badging. I’m waiting for the AppStore queue to clear out a bit. I think I have 8 things pending right now.
As for marking done, just select the priorities (123) and set it to done
