Wow - I might have missed a version leading up to this one - but this one looks (interface-wise) so much nicer!
Couple things that I do not find that intuitive (and I might be the exception rather than the rule): when you tap the 3 ‘action’ icons at the bottom of the Notes screen, you then need to tap an individual note in order for the action part to happen. This seems opposite of how I naturally expect it to behave - as in, I figure when I select / highlight an individual note, then tap an action icon, it should start offering the action’s choices.
Not explaining that very well - looks and works great so far anyway …

i can`t seem to get it working on 1.1.2 do i need to create a folder for the recordings? and what should it be? it starts recording but the file size and length are 0. so it`s not actually saving the recording.

to make it run on 112 you must create /var/mobile/Media

running ZiPhone 1.1.3
Every other time pressing “stop record” button crashes the phone and leaves it hanging with the apple logo.
My best results of running it have been through ssh, invoking from the prompt (on my PC).
The file gets written, seconds count correctly, file size grows. But when I go to playback it (either on the phone or PC), I get no sound at all.
Interface looks good.
Much looking forward to this app working!
Thank you for all your hard work and contribution.

Hi Erica,
it seems that this beta is for the 1.1.3
nevertheless,i tried it on my 1.1.1 and it looked amazing but, clearly it does not record anything.
will there be an update for 1.1.1 too?
i really need the ability to change the title of a recorded voice note.
Regards,
Simon

I tried installing on my 1.1.3 16 gig iphone ziphone jailbroken looks like it starts to open but doesn’t launch i used the installer to install. Thoughts?

After you copy this to your applications folder, go in and set the permissions on ‘vnotes’ to 755 and it should work just fine on 1.1.3. I don’t know if it is necessary, but I also set PkgInfo to 755. Works great!

Erica,
I love the new GUI.
One thing I noticed though, is that the filenames have colons in them. Just pointing out that when you’re transfer the file to a Windows computer, the colon appears as a %3A, since the file system doesn’t support colons.

Hi, I am fairly new to this, but would really like to help with this so could someone tell me how to put it in my iphone? I used Ziphone to jailbreak/unlock my phone and did put the old version (I think) of vnotes, but it aint working. Unfortunately, I do not know how to install beside clicking on the install.app and then selecting what I want (the easy way).
If someone can help me, I’d be grateful.
Thx

installed on 1.1.3 (ziphone) had to killall vrecord via putty to regain control of the phone. cheers
Comment by Erica Sadun | February 19, 2008 | 2:05 pm
This version doesn’t use vrecord. It now uses VNotes

imthewhiterabbit - make sure you have openSSH and BSDsubsystem installed and you can log into your phone over wifi. You can use a free program called filezilla to connect to your phone and copy vnotes.app into the applications folder.

thank you very much alan3000. I dont know why though, but I now have (without doing nothing) the vnotes working… It is the one with a green 50s mic icon…
Seems to be working pretty fine for me. I can record my lectures no problem now (Just have to put the volume to max to hear a thing, but its better than nothing :D).
TY!

works great on my 113 iphone. Had no problems recording, e-mailingl or listening. Thanks for the great app!

ran in a few problems,
was working for a while until suffered a crash that restarts the iphone.
now it wont even record the sound, file is created but its just an empty voice-less amr…
when i return to the homescreen, the system sound (e.g. locking/unlocking) is distorted…
Comment by emwmswg | March 2, 2008 | 5:26 pm
Works beautifully on 1.1.4. However, reboots sometimes but saves the recording. cannot figure out any pattern when it reboots or not.
Suggestions:
1. Make the recording meter BIGGER and WIDER to match the big red microphone blob.
2. Would be great if you get configure sound quality so you also could record music…. if you can with amr
Keep on with the excellent work!!!!
