Does this work with 1.1.2?

Comment by Douglas | February 20, 2008 | 12:02 am

App works on 1.1.3. What works for me: viewing list of notes, playing notes, recording new notes, playing old notes from before the upgrade, renaming notes, emailing notes, deleting notes.

Troubles I have: the time progress bar is a little weird when playing back a recording, after using voice notes my audio everywhere else gets weird like muffled sounding then have to restart iphone to get rid of it, when chosing import voicemail app just closes.

Hope this helps, if you need any more info please let me know!

Muffled sound here too after using the app, I solved it by playing a tune in ipod

This app is causing problems for me. I’m on 1.1.3, jailbroken with ziphone. The app opens to a gray screen for about 10 seconds then closes. After that I loose audio, I have not output from the iPod and I cannot hear the other party on phone calls - they can hear me though. Also related, when I answer an incoming call the speaker phone is on by default.

Hey Erica do you have a changelog for Voicenotes? I’d like to include it in my write up for appleiphoneschool.com you can email me or comment here.

Thanks!
Jacob

I’m afraid that grown-up real-developers do things like change logs.

I’ve just been hacking at the software. Sorry!

Quick Question, Can VNotes record from bluetooth devices?
i.e. iPhone Bluetooth Headset?

Comment by wip2k | February 22, 2008 | 6:14 am

Hi All,

I’m not an expert so I don’t know how to install new apps via SSH. I can only install them via installer. I used to have vnote on 1.1.2 and loved it and therefore would like to install it on my 1.1.3 but I cannot seem to find this later version on the installer ?

Anyone can Help ?

Thanks a million !

Comment by akj | February 23, 2008 | 11:50 am

Recording is happening fine
When I played the recording after few secs the speaker just went silent. No sound from speaker since then. No ring on incoming call, ipod playback, tap sounds. I can hear it through headphone though
The VOL has now gone weird. Its showing 0 by default and when I try and increase the its snaps back at 0
I have 1.1.3 version hacked using zipphone. Tried restarting, restoring nothing works. Speaker is still dead.
Help

Same problem here that akj. I uninstalled and all right again.

Comment by akj | February 25, 2008 | 9:48 am

Tried that ,, not working for me..

Any ideas .. Thanks in advance

Comment by kapt | February 25, 2008 | 9:54 pm

still has the muffled sound, the crash and no recording whatsoever…. any ideas?

Comment by chuckm | February 26, 2008 | 10:47 am

I like the big green button!

Had some issues around permissions getting it installed (I’m an Install.app junky typically) but once I resolved those it seems to work fine. Have not tried a message longer than 20 seconds bu short messages work fine.

Import voicemail seems to crash the app, but emailing works fine. The “inbox” icon is a little confusing, but in gneeral I like the look!

I works great on the 1.1.4, the only thing is that accented caracters are not supported, I’m using a french version of iphone software (when you edit a note to change the name)

Comment by tonydeli7 | March 20, 2008 | 12:36 pm

hello erica.your app(0.35 version) works great under 1.1.4..zIphoned… But I have a small request.. I have seen that on the latest versions, you have added a DB meter. So,is it possible for you to make a standalon DB meter for the iPhone???…….please :-)..

Whenever i install VNotes on my 1.1.4 or 1.1.3 my iPhone crashes and I end up with restoring.. Now i tried without VNotes and it doesn’t crash! Maybe it’s just me but this is serious and need to be fixed. No offence Erica, i really like your programs but shame VNotes crashes my iPhone..

Comment by yek401 | March 26, 2008 | 10:31 am

Great application, very happy w/ it on 1.1.4 (cydia). Million dollar question: ringtones? If AMR is the only encoding, then how hard is the conversion process? Maybe an online converter could be used? Skrew of danstaface has an app called Ringtone which processes in-phone ITunes files into ringtones, but I don’t know what kind of limitation AMR represents.

Comment by phil12gt | March 28, 2008 | 10:34 am

My registered orange iphone with 1.1.4 jailbreaked via Ziphone 2.6b. Perfect installer is well there.
Then I cannot find your 0.35 but just the 0.31 which give for a short time a white screen before closing. How could I get installed easily the 0.35 version?
Do you plan to move Voicenotes to official apple iphone apps?
Thanks a lot
Philippe

Hey, I think I am putting this on the wrong thread or so, but I have a 1.1.1 iPhone unlocked, and I searched for this version of VNotes in Installer (I’m not a hacker and I know nothing about SSH) or any other similar app which works with my version. Do you have any clue? Does the VN work with this version? Need some help, please.

Thanks

Comment by Cezex | April 4, 2008 | 2:16 pm

Where does voicenotes keep sound files ? I can record a note, but no files are shown on Voice Notes tab. Any clues ? I’im using it on 1.1.3 software.

Comment by avanags | April 6, 2008 | 7:38 pm

I used to have your early voice notes on my 1.0.1 iphone. A few days I took the plunge, upgraded to 1.1.4 (which erased everything) used the pwned tool to jailbreak, used InstallApp to install voice notes 0.31 and it does not work. when finished recording it says duration=0 bytes recorded=0, an like the poster above says, nothing shows in the Voice Notes tab. I remember I had to do something special to some files to get it and the NES emulator to work. (those changes erased on the upgrade) could it be related to that?

Comment by avanags | April 6, 2008 | 7:41 pm

went ahead and downloaded VNotes 0.35, copied it into /Applications using iFuntastic, same problem, does not seem to be able ot record anything.

Comment by avanags | April 7, 2008 | 8:53 pm

Tsk, all my error: I thought my phone was already activated, so when it came time to pick the options on the pwned tool, I left ‘activate’ unchecked. I have redone an *.ispw file, starting with 1.1.4 and choosing graphics and activate only. I restored the iphone with that file and Voila! Voice Notes 0.31 works!. After downloading the youtube fix from the installer youtube also works, and ipod music works as well. All my mistake, please ignore the above two posts.

Hi Erica,

Please let me know how to install manually 035, i really can’t dig it… But 031 is crushing on my 1.1.4

Thanks

Sender

Hello Eric,

thanks for the Voice Notes! I will be sure to donate. Can you tell me how I can play back my voice notes over the iPhone speaker opposed to the head phones?

Also, how do you get the latest version from the iPhone Installer?

Thanks in advance.

Comment by Burschi | May 25, 2008 | 5:29 am

The most useful of all the third party apps, but unfortunately also the only app that repeatedly crashes my iphone every 10th time I do a recording. It always crashes right after I stop a recording. However, since it’s so useful, I still keep it on my iPhone and use it regularly. I just wished somebody would fix the app so that it never crashes. Thanks!

Comment by Burschi | May 25, 2008 | 5:36 am

(btw: I’m using 035, still crashes).

Installation is simple:
1. install bsd subsystem via installer
2. install openssh via installer
3. start wireless ip sharing on the mac, connect your iphone with your mac
4. find out the ip address of the iphone (Settings : Wi-Fi : your network (click the “>”). It something like 10.0.2.2
5. Start terminal, type “ssh root@ip-address” (example “ssh root@10.0.2.2″), wait 30s, type “alpine”, type exit
6. use an ftp client like “transmit” to connect to the machine (settings are ip-address, user “root”, password “alpine”, protocol sftp)
7. navigate to /Applications. Copy the downloaded file VNotes.app here. Restart the iphone, done.

Comment by Burschi | May 25, 2008 | 6:05 am

Here’s a workaround for the crash issue: don’t press the big button to stop recording, instead press the iphone-home button. This will do the same thing, but will cut off the last 2 seconds of your recording. So count up to 3, then press home and you will not see anymore crashes (at least it worked for me in 20 tests I just quickly did with varying lenghts).

How do I get through Safari to download VoiceNotes?

Comment by tonky | December 8, 2008 | 9:09 pm

Hi,

I previously downloaded “voicenotes” from the itunes app store. Is that your app?

If not, where can I download yours?

I desperately want to archive my voicemails prior to their eventual deletion from my ihpone and it seems you have found a way, yet I am heretofore not completely clear.

Would you please take a moment to email me?

thanks!

-Tonky
