Updated: MakeItMine-0.03 and Introducing Banner
Erica Sadun | 12:09 pm | January 27, 2008 | Update, Test Requests, Utilities, Software, iPod touch, iPhone
MIM is massively updated and works much better now with quicker results after setting your carrier name. I’ve also added a version called Banner that updates the time string at the top of your iPod or iPhone rather than the carrier name. Same idea, but different part of the screen. You can put more text on the screen with Banner than with MIM.
Both MakeItMine and Banner are availalbe in the Pumpkin Utilities folder.

Erica– I have an odd request. I love MIM, as all of your software. I had it on my 1.1.2 phone. But my phone is not keeping a charge, so I restored my phone to remove all of the jailbreaking and remembered to “reset” the carried b/4 I did this. I went up to 1.1.3 when I restored. All was fine, yet when I synced my phone to get my data back on, my MIM carrier came back! How can I get it back to ATT w/o having to go through downgrading? Is there a way? I need to get this charging issue straight, yet Apple, I doubt, will not be too happy to help a phone that has “sk8″ as the carrier. Help!
Thanks.

Use CaptionCrunch, the Carrier edition

Is there any argumet (like &time or %time or…) so that you can have both text AND the current time using Banner?
Comment by Erica Sadun | January 29, 2008 | 2:33 pm
Not via springboard.
You can create a shell script that updates it every minute with the right time and a custom message though.

I’ve just installed MIM 0.03 and Banner. Neither work, which makes me wonder if another app is blocking both. I have Customize in place and have been using it for carrier icons/text. Your take? Thanks.

Are you running 1.1.3?

1.1.2. That must be it!

Have dropped back to MakeItMine-0.01, and that works fine. Thanks.

Erica - I am wondering why MIM works on 1.1.3 but nothing else can replace the carrier image. I have manually replaced all of my “AT&T” images, and STILL it shows AT&T. Has Apple hard coded this, like they have with the background “image”?

Tested MIM under 1.1.4 and works flawlessly, can you update the repo script so it allows installation from installer? Cheers

Hi Erica, you sure know that MIM doesn’t work with 1.1.4

Hi Erica first my cogratulations to you on the great work!!! Keep up!!!
I’ve been trying to install MIM on my iphone, but for some reason after I download it I try to install it but it switches to a complete white screen and then it goes back to the normal screen!
What could be going wrong here??

Hi Erica.
Thanks for your excellent command-line tools!
You mention the idea of using a shell script to update the banner or carrier name.
How do I set them from a shell script? The MakeItMine i downloaded via Cydia has a GUI.
