Deprecated Software

Erica Sadun | 11:13 am | January 25, 2008 | Update, Admin, Software

I am abandoning work on the following software:

Widgets. It was always a proof of concept and never meant to be anything more. If anyone else wants to pick up work on it, feel free

iPhone Utilities. The iPod touch now has Mail, Maps, Notes, etc. There’s no good reason to maintain a second package. I’ve merged this with Erica Utilities.

Listen. RIP. I loved this program.

PDF Viewer. There is a far better version out there now.

XLaunch. Wiggly jiggly icons make XLaunch unnecessary.

Diagnostics. Again, a proof of concept.

Open URL. WebClips make this an unnecessary utility.

Push2Talk. There is a perfectly good SIP client available now.

First Erica, thank you so much for all the work you have done! You are definitely one of the iPioneers!

Are you releasing the source to any abandoned apps? Can people still grab any of these somewhere? I luckily grabbed OpelURL last night before you pulled it. Until Apple makes it so WebClips don’t have to go through Safari, it is quite helpful for speed dialing without having to hit a website and ask for a confirmation.

Thanks!

Open URL is just now in the Deprecated Folder. Nothing is gone, just moved.

Oh, okay, thanks!

Hey Erica,

Love your apps, I have a few Dressup costumes I have designed myself. :)

You said there was a better version out there for PDF Viewer, however I have looked around and have not been able to find it. Could you point me out in the right direction?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I tried to google around but didn´t find a SIP client for the iPhone. Could you provide a URL? TIA.
BTW: thanks a lot for all the iPhone work you are doing.

P.S.: do you happen to know a program for the iPhone, that allows me to crop a jpg pict that is located at Photos/Camera Roll?

Please do not discontinue XLaunch! I use it as my launcher as it is the fastest and best launcher out there

Hey Erica– just wondering about the likelihood of seeing Listen come back with some other engine. Think that would be worth looking into (like the iEatBrainz app uses)?

Please continue Open URL :o( web clips isn’t the same. With Open URL I could prefix my web path with a username and password, great for things like web based corporate email. Also, one small request would be a switch that allowed it to re-use already open safari screens rather than open a new one.

Pleaseeeee :o)

Rudi

You really don’t need OpenURL any more. Tell you what, I’ll make a version of teleclip that works with URLs, okay?

Should have it up in a few minutes

Hi Erica! Sorry if I’m being obtuse, but I did search on your site for SIP and this is the only article that I found. I wasn’t aware of any working SIP clients (other than one for the touch, that seems to still be off in the future). Any chance you could enlighten me as to where to look? SIP would be AWESOME!

Hi Erica, I’m interested in using widgets on the iPhone. Would it be possible to get the source to Widgets? Thanks for all the great apps, Frank

I would really like to try Listen, but I guess it has been pulled out. Can I still get it?
