Create telephone webclips from the command line

My new utility teleclip takes two arguments: a name and a phone number. It creates and loads a new webclip using those arguments, e.g. teleclip “Steve Jobs” “408-555-1212″. When tapped, the webclip launches Safari and asks whether you want to continue making the call. I’ve put the utility into the Erica Utilities folder but it’s not yet part of the general distribution.

This is great Erica, thanks. One small issue: It creates the clipping with the Owner set to 0 instead of 501, so if you delete it from the screen, it will reappear at the next respring. “normal” webclips would be gone forever.

Hi David, I recompiled a new version that sets the folders to be owned by mobile instead. Can you test it out? Thanks! (It’s uploaded to the same place)

Thanks, it works and deletes fine now, though technically, I think the permissions are still incorrect. The folder shows the owner and group as 501 (as ‘normal’ webclips do), but the contents (Info.plist & icon.png) show the owner as root (0) and the group as 501.
It sure is fun trying to sort through what the proper permissions are for everything under 1.1.3 ……not.
