I’m once again updating voice notes to try to make it work more smoothly this time with core telephony, such as phone interruptions. If you’ve got any feature requests, now’s the time to speak up.

Sorry folks but once again, I need to announce that development is now limited to 1.1.3. I’m not a commercial endeavor and I cannot support older firmware especially when my time doing iPhone development is what I can scrape away from being a mom. There are now sufficient jailbreak resources for both the iPod touch and iPhone that makes it practical for me to start issuing my software as 1.1.3 releases. The upgrade path is a bumpy one. I had to change the way some of the programs work since apps now run as user “mobile” instead of root. This makes a lot of my software not backwards compatible and cuts out anyone still running 1.1.2 or earlier.

ClipIt is a GUI-based Web Clip creation tool that I wrote up for TUAW. It’s in the Pumpkin Utilities folder. You can use it for any kind of URL, including itms:// and tel:// as well as http://

On request, here’s urlclip. It’s just like teleclip but is not dedicated to creating telephone-based webclips. Instead it is a general tool that allows you to use any iPhone-legal URL, including http://, tel:// itms:// and so forth.
Like teleclip, it takes two arguments–the name of the clip and the URL. It then builds a WebClip using an incredibly boring white icon–feel free to swap that out for a better one.
It’s now in the individual Erica Utilities folder and I’ll tuck it into a new EU zip sometime soon.

Good news: It’s updated.
Bad news: You can only use it with .m4a files and it’s slow to load because it has to search for those artists who have m4a music.
Version is 0.32 and it’s available for download now.

My new utility teleclip takes two arguments: a name and a phone number. It creates and loads a new webclip using those arguments, e.g. teleclip “Steve Jobs” “408-555-1212″. When tapped, the webclip launches Safari and asks whether you want to continue making the call. I’ve put the utility into the Erica Utilities folder but it’s not yet part of the general distribution.

Thanks to Nate True, I believe I have UIctl updated for 1.1.3 and running as media. On his suggestion, I added a setuid(0) to the main() routine of the utility so it could run as root and have access to launchctl. Please give it a try and let me know if it works for you. You’ll find it System folder.

setBanner and setCarrier are command-line versions of Banner.app and MIM.app. Just give them one argument to set the banner or carrier, or no arguments to revert.
appLoad simply makes your Home screen update when you add a new application or WebClip without having to restart SpringBoard. It uses the new on-board Nikita mechanism.
All three utilities are in the Erica Utilities folder although I have not yet updated Erica Utilities to include them.
p.s. There’s also a “restart2″ utility that can restart SpringBoard even when you run it as mobile. I’m not sure how useful that will be in the long run but it’s there.

MIM is massively updated and works much better now with quicker results after setting your carrier name. I’ve also added a version called Banner that updates the time string at the top of your iPod or iPhone rather than the carrier name. Same idea, but different part of the screen. You can put more text on the screen with Banner than with MIM.
Both MakeItMine and Banner are availalbe in the Pumpkin Utilities folder.

I am abandoning work on the following software:
Widgets. It was always a proof of concept and never meant to be anything more. If anyone else wants to pick up work on it, feel free
iPhone Utilities. The iPod touch now has Mail, Maps, Notes, etc. There’s no good reason to maintain a second package. I’ve merged this with Erica Utilities.
Listen. RIP. I loved this program.
PDF Viewer. There is a far better version out there now.
XLaunch. Wiggly jiggly icons make XLaunch unnecessary.
Diagnostics. Again, a proof of concept.
Open URL. WebClips make this an unnecessary utility.
Push2Talk. There is a perfectly good SIP client available now.
