Didn’t know how else to get this info to you, but thought you might be interested. In reference to your article about “half dozen fun undocumented iPhone preferences”, I discovered another one in there, that you might not have played with: SBDoubleTapURL
You can actually assign the double-click of the Home button to run ANY application on the phone. Two plist entries are involved.
SBEnableOverlayControls
this is normally set to 1 to put up the Overlay controls, but if you set it to 0 then the Double TapURL will work instead.
I’ve got a little 1-click shell app I made to start and pause music which I was running it from the Springboard, Now I can just double-click the home button and the music toggles states.
hello, I have a hack request. Would you be able to create some sort of software on the ipod touch that you could be able to install on the installer.app. The program would enable the nike+ sport kit on the iPod touch. All you would need is the sensor transmiter and the plug-in on the program
I’m hoping you might be able to help me. I accidentally hid my Spicy Chicken Customizer app. ( hmm never thought those words would ever fly out of my mouth), in the hidden area it gives you as an option to dissapear apps. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, but that didnt help, it just went hidden all by itself again.
Well, i understand your very busy, so i really, no, REALLY, appreciate any help you can offer. I attempted to email Spicy Chicken, but couldnt figure out an email for Johnnyliquid.
Hi Erica,
Ive been trying to look more into this bluetooth music stuff as you said you really hadn’t done much with bluetooth before. From what I have found The function CTSetAudioPath is only one you would need to make an app. I presume that that is the celestial telephony area, which you would know about. Im not really sure how to run this function or make an app using it so I was still hoping you might have a little time to look into it. From what I can gather using the callback, this function brings up the audio select window and if you choose headset all the audio from the phone is sent to the headset.
Thanks for your time, I really hope you have a chance to look at it.
Erica, sorry for contacting you this way but I can’t find the ’submit tip’ link on TUAW.
I was wondering if you know the status of the IPSF “Error in server communications” issue? A *lot* of people are unable to perform the unlock and are resorting to using AnySIM which is fine and dandy except maybe word should be put out that IPSF should be avoided until the issue is addressed. Search for the error string and you’ll hit a ton of forums where people are having the problem. The common denominator has been a severe lack of IPSF responses to inquiries.
Thanks for everything.

Hi Erica,
I love your “Make It Mine” app so much. Thank you for making it. There’s only one problem with it though and it’s the problem of the iPhone itself. It doesn’t show any carrier-logo that is too longer. However, every once in a while it does scroll. Do you know how to make it constantly scroll? Or perhaps could it be the new feature for the next update then?
Thank you so much and I’m sorry to request it to you this way.
I get WAV files as attachments, but the builting Quicktime codex will not play them. Have you though about porting a WAV decoder into /System/Library/VideoDecoders?
1. Now that Flashlight has been released and given that it goes on maximum brightness upon launch regardless of the brightness level that is set as a preference and the other cool features it has, I hope you will take this opportunity to merge RedLight and Light into a single package to make them more useful and competitive.
2. Can you please look into a currency converter application? I find it shocking that nobody has done one. It would be nice to have it in a similar style to xe.com/ucc and to be able to input one amount - choose the currency from and currency too, and then have it work out the resulting figure. It should of course get the latest exchange rates from an online source through the wifi whenever possible anytime a conversion is made. I promise you a million iphone users will love you if you come through with this app. Well we already love you, but we will love you even more!!!!
many thanks for all your work so far!

Shan, the Stocks.app already does all the hard work of getting up-to-the-minute currency exchange rates from Yahoo!
Put “USDAUD=X” without the quotes into it asan additional stock, for example for US dollars to Aussie dollars.
Simply multiply your US$ figure by that rate then you have your figure in Aussie$. That is what Calc is for, all you are practically asking is that Calc and Stocks apps be joined together for convenience.
How to do all that above & more details was all written up on a blog a week or two ago, search it out!
David… Can you or anyone tell me how to get the doubletap shortcut to execute a shell application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Completely off topic, but could someone help me? Using Term VT100 and I would love to write a few alias in my login file. But, well, I cannot identify any login file that would be started after my session begun. Anyone? Thx so much …
I am looking hopeless to unlock 1.1.2. and I think you know more then I know.
Of course time is money, so I am willing to reward you knowledge.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
like everyone else here, I couldn’t find a better way to contact you…
I’m working for a company that involves mobile phones. we have zillions of apps for showing real-time on-screen view from the device to the PC/MAC (great for presentations) and I was wondering if anyone has an idea about doing the same for the iPhone.
This is pretty much the same stuff Steve Jobs used for his initial presentation… I have the video-out cable, but this only applies for the iPod Movies as everyone probably knows… can it be used / hacked into so the cable will show the iPhone screen on video-out all the time?
Thanks alot

erica, great work on…EVERYTHING, haha you have done more for the iphone than apple, so thanks!
i recently watched a video on youtube of a chinese iphone imatator that has a great function. shake to answer, its really cool actually, heres the link:
Hello,
I have an idea for a very simple, new app. It would allow you to change the amount of storage space allocated to text messages. I constantly use up my text message space and receive a message telling me it’s almost full. Then, I stop receiving new message. It’s incessant. The app would simply be a one-field screen that allows you to type in how much storage space you’d like to give for text messages. If you’re interested in developing this, please let me know.
Thanks for your help concerning the sine and cosine causing the reboots. I now suspect that it wasn’t the sine and cosine functions themselves, but rather that those functions increased the calculation time to the point where the input audio queue would be without buffers, which perhaps caused the reboot.. I lowered the queue length and it hasn’t crashed yet…but it’s not much good as a guitar tuner like this. (For anyone who is curious, the code is at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/funiculus/ ). Thanks again.
