Yet another UIctl Update: UIctl-0.32
Erica Sadun | 12:04 pm | November 21, 2007 | Bug Reports, Bug Fixes, Update, Software, iPod touch, iPhone
On the concern that the problems are cropping up in /Library/LaunchDaemons instead of /System/Library/LaunchDaemons, I’ve changed the directory enumeration for that folder as well. New version 0.32 also does a few extra checks when doing the reverse lookup after you select a daemon. Hopefully these new checks will help stabilize the whole program but as always, the law of unintended consequence lingers. Please test and let me know if this fixes your problems. Also, please add an ls -al of /Library/LaunchDaemons to any bug reports. Thanks. You can download the new version from here.

erica,
i’m sorry to use comments to contact you (feel free to delete), and certainly, do not contact me on turkey day, but, i’ve done something horrible, and i need your help (or at least, i don’t know where else to turn and i didn’t know how to contact you).
i have a very important vnotes recording i didn’t backup off of my iphone, and, just kind of waking up in a fuzzy moment this morning, i thought, you know, before family, i’ll update to 1.1.2 (using the new ppc from conceited).
dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.
followed all the steps, and itunes downloaded 1.1.2, got started, and failed with an error (didn’t write it down). my iphone is is in 1.1.1(?) recovery mode.
i can wipe everything else off of this iphone with no worries, but, i need need need this file. can you contact and help me (please not today, as i’ve already intruded enough, be with your family and loved ones)? i’m fairly tech savvy, but with all this under the hood iphone stuff, i’m bit over my head.

It’s pretty unlikely that you’ll get that data off. iPhuc does support data transfer and you can try using iPhone Disk (I think that’s what its called) as well.
The problem is that a full restore will kill your media parittion and the jail does not include Library/Recordings, which is where voice notes are stored.

Erica, would you mind posting an updated copy of the UIctl source? That would be greatly appreciated.

i can`t seem to get this to work.i updated the uictl file, i even renamed it like this UIctl but all i get is a white screen. i`m on 1.0.2 maybe that`s why.

The program name must match the Info.plist file. Renaming uictl to UIctl is a bad thing.
Also, make sure you’ve set it +x.
