Testers Needed

Erica Sadun | 10:59 am | November 25, 2007 | Open Discussion, Admin, Software

Programs do not arise fully formed from the ocean in the style of Aphrodite. I need testers and I’m having a very hard time getting software out of the door properly tested. I’m throwing myself at your mercy. How can I find some reliable testers who are willing to try software (both new and bugfixes) and give me feedback?

I would love to help you test Erica. What do you need?

Comment by Erica Sadun | November 25, 2007 | 1:09 pm

I need both iPhone and iPod touch testers who have command line access and can install programs by hand.

My software needs testing *before* getting to Installer.app

One more volunteer reporting for duty, sir! Eh… Lady!

Currently on sim-unlocked 1.1.2 with Dutch sim. Since my pc is on Windows (still have to check out how to run Leopard on it!) we may have some interoperability issues however. Sometimes (like tight now) I have more than one iPhone available, because I got some for friends/family as gifts. So I can also test inter-iPhone apps occasionally.
Btw love your work so far! Thx for all the effort!
I would be glad to be able to do something in return.

Hi Erica, I used to develop software for MacOS 9, but now I spend most of my day using the terminal doing some shell scripting and MySQL queries.

I have an iPhone 1.1.1 for less than a month, unlocked and in use in Argentina.

If I can be of any help, just contact me using the email in I used when I registered ay your site.

Thanks.

PS: I was willing to do some iPhone app programming and maybe this will meke me dig into it :-)

Comment by BHSPitMonkey | November 27, 2007 | 5:06 pm

I’ll do what I can. (iPod Touch).

I’m probably not the first to ask, but have you considered running your own [beta] repository for Installer.app?

I’m happy to test also, and am looking at various of your recent test requests.

I’d love to be able to use sendFileByMail entirely on the commandline. That is, I’d specify an email address, and the mail would be sent without showing the mail client on the iphone at all. Any hope of this?

I’d really really love to see some source code, too :-) You’re doing impressive work, and I’d like to be able to build on it.

Comment by Erica Sadun | December 3, 2007 | 12:42 am

At this time, I have no support for sending the file without the Mail program because it simply emulates Safari’s mailto: protocol.
