Sensors demonstrates the iPhone and iPod touch’s built-in accelerometer readings. The app calculates “up” for the arrow based on these readings. Raw values are given in X, Y, and Z corresponding to the three sensors. More details and coding how-to at TUAW. Download a copy of the latest version from my Sensors ftp page.

I have a suggestion. The proximity ear/face sensor is an IR transmitter/Receiver. Can you interface with the transmitter portion of the sensor. I am an electrical engineer not a software pro, and am just learning about Posix and macs in general. Can you tell me about the software side interface. I believe the Iphone could control TV and other IR receivers. That would be an app of interest.
